Abstract
This study explores the phenomenon of early marriage and its impact on divorce rates at the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) in East Adonara District, East Flores Regency. The aim is to examine the practice of early marriage and identify the factors contributing to divorce among young couples. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, utilizing observation, interviews, and documentation for data collection. Findings reveal that early marriage is often driven by economic hardship, cultural practices, low educational attainment, parental pressure, and limited religious understanding. Emotional immaturity and unpreparedness for domestic responsibilities are the leading causes of divorce. Data from KUA East Adonara shows a rising trend in divorces linked to early marriages from 2021 to 2024. This research is expected to deepen understanding of the early marriage issue and serve as a basis for education and policy to prevent early-age divorces.
