Abstract

The aims of this research are (1) social control of students’ disciplinary behavior by teachers in the sociology learning process at PGRI Kupang High School, (2) inhibiting factors for social control of students’ disciplinary behavior at PGRI Kupang High School. This type of research uses qualitative research methods. The subjects in this research were teachers and students. Data collection techniques are through observation, interviews and documentation, and the data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The research results show several findings. Firstly, social control of students’ disciplinary behavior in sociology learning at SMA PGRI Kupang is preventive social control, namely social control that provides direction and guidance to students regarding disciplinary behavior, carries out prevention by reprimanding students who are not punctual, skip school and also providing sanctions that can change the disciplinary behavior of students before the disciplinary behavior occurs, recessive social control, namely providing sanctions against students who carry out disciplinary behavior so that they do not commit the same violations. The two factors inhibiting social control are students committing violations by disobeying school rules, skipping school, smoking and leaving the classroom while learning is taking place.
