Using a descriptive survey method, it sampled 30 out of 438 basic schools across three local government areas of Guma, Logo, and Ukum were selected through multistage sampling. Data were collected using a profoma titled "Influence of Herders/Farmers Conflict on Pupils’ Enrolment, Retention, and Completion of Basic Education in Benue State, Nigeria," covering ten academic years (2012-2022). Descriptive statistics, including tables and bar charts, were used to analyze the data. Findings revealed that increasing conflict led to declining enrolment, reduced retention, and lower completion rates, particularly in 2014, 2018, and 2020. The study concluded that the farmers-herders conflict significantly affects basic education in the state. It recommended that stakeholders—including international communities and federal/state governments—should intervene through seminars, workshops, and conferences to mediate and raise awareness. Such initiatives aim to reduce the conflict and curb its negative impact on school participation.
2025-05-03T11:59:13+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Ismaila Oteikwu Onche Amali, Muhinat Bolanle Bello, Thompson Toryuha Aun, Mbakeren Adaakuhttps://e-journal.unmuhkupang.ac.id/index.php/pensos/article/view/2032Penerapan Model Pembelajaran Time Token untuk Mendorong Berpikir Kritis2025-05-03T13:04:09+00:00Timotius Raturatimotius@gmail.com
This study aims to find out whether the application of the time token learning model can improve the critical thinking skills of students in class XI of Social Sciences of Muhammadiyah Kupang High School. One of the major social issues that frequently arises during this phase is bullying. Bullying is an aggressive behavior that is repeated with the intention of causing physical, emotional, or mental harm to the victim. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing bullying behavior, trends in reported cases, and effective prevention strategies. The findings indicate that peer influence, parenting styles, social environment, and exposure to electronic media significantly contribute to the development of bullying behavior. Based on data from various studies, bullying prevalence in Indonesia remains high, with most adolescents playing dual roles as both perpetrators and victims. This behavior is more common among male students than females and tends to increase with higher grade levels. Preventing bullying requires active involvement from various stakeholders, including families, schools, and communities. Effective strategies include strengthening character education, fostering a safe and supportive school environment, implementing strict and consistent disciplinary measures, and ensuring strong coordination between teachers and parents to guide children toward better self-control and empathy.
2025-05-03T12:16:45+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Tasa Octavelia Amanda, Aliyyah Dhiyah Ulhaq, Risma Anita Puriani, Rani Mega Putrihttps://e-journal.unmuhkupang.ac.id/index.php/pensos/article/view/2080Penyebab Menurunnya Hasil Belajar Siswa pada Pembelajaran Sosiologi di SMA Negeri 2 Kupang2025-05-03T13:04:10+00:00Rosalia Leong Soaresrosalia1@gmail.com
This research aims to (a) determine the factors that cause students’ learning outcomes to decline in sociology subjects and (b) to find out the efforts made by teachers to improve sociology learning outcomes at SMA Negeri 2 Kupang. The approach used in this research is qualitative. The research subjects using purposive sampling techniques comprised principals, teachers, and students at SMA Negeri 2 Kupang. Research data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. This research data were analysed using the interactive analysis technique of the Miles and Hebermans model. This research found several findings. First, the cause of the decline in students’ learning outcomes in sociology learning at SMA Negeri 2 Kupang has not been optimized properly. There are still several obstacles, namely factors within the students, where students often do not comply with school rules. For example, during lessons, there are students who lack focus and go in and out of class. Second, family environmental factors also influence the decline in student learning outcomes, such as economic factors that are less supportive and lack motivational support from parents. Third, Community environmental factors, such as what students do outside the school environment, influence the decline in students’ learning outcomes. The efforts made by teachers to improve sociology learning outcomes at SMA Negeri 2 Kupang include giving assignments, group discussions, and via the Internet. Thus, the decline in students’ learning outcomes can be seen in students' daily interactions.
2025-05-03T12:02:46+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Rosalia Leong Soareshttps://e-journal.unmuhkupang.ac.id/index.php/pensos/article/view/2081Dampak Kelas Sosial pada Kelanjutan Pendidikan Anak di Desa Nunmafo2025-05-03T13:04:08+00:00Yohana Hati Bimekubimeku1@gmail.com
The study aims to determine (1) the impact of social class structure on sustained children's education of Nunmafo Village, and (2) the supporting factors of social class structure on sustained children's education of Nunmafo Village. Children in the upper class receive quality education and teachers, but they are more concerned with business than education. Middle-class families can satisfy their children's educational demands, but they do not receive high-quality education and teachers. Children in society have high expectations but are limited by financial constraints. While supportive variables include: (1) restricted access to educational resources, (2) economic demands, (3) a lack of family support, and (4) a lack of motivation among children. One emerging issue during this period is self-harm behavior, defined as deliberate self-injury without suicidal intent in response to emotional distress. This topic is essential to explore due to the rising prevalence and its impact on adolescents’ psychological well-being. This study employed a literature review method by analyzing various relevant journals and scientific articles. The findings indicate that self-harm is triggered by psychological factors such as emotional dysregulation and mental health issues, as well as social factors like dysfunctional parenting and environmental pressure. Forms of self-harm vary, from skin-cutting to more severe actions. The consequences include physical injuries, feelings of guilt, social withdrawal, and an increased risk of mental disorders. Interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, and mindfulness have proven effective in helping adolescents regulate their emotions. Moreover, family and social support play a significant role in the recovery process. A deeper understanding of risk factors and intervention strategies is expected to reduce self-harm cases and improve adolescents' quality of life.
2025-05-03T12:45:32+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Alfiyyah Zaahiyah Trananda, Tasa Octavelia Amanda, Marta Noprinda, Risma Anita Puriani, Rizki Novirsonhttps://e-journal.unmuhkupang.ac.id/index.php/pensos/article/view/2082Kolaborasi Guru Dan Peserta Didik Dalam Membangun Disiplin Positif di SMA Negeri 5 Kupang2025-05-03T13:04:09+00:00Irvantus Jebagunirvantus@gmail.com
This study aims to find out: 1) the collaboration of teachers and students in building positive discipline at SMA Negeri 5 Kupang. 2) the factors that inhibit the collaboration of teachers and students in building positive discipline at SMA Negeri 5 Kupang. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, through secondary data analysis and in-depth narratives from a 20-year-old male participant. The results show that the absence of the father is seen physically and emotionally, as well as limited two-way communication, which has an impact on the formation of children's characters such as quiet, temperamental, and difficulty in interaction. This study also explains that authoritarian parenting applied to military families has the potential to result in emotional distance between parents and children. This requires the active role of parents in building effective communication and appropriate parenting in order to support children's mental, emotional and social development optimally. This study provides recommendations regarding family therapy approaches, one of which is Bowenian Family Therapy as an alternative intervention in improving the quality of family relationships.
2025-05-03T12:00:02+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Qarsela Tiara Umardi, Rika Kurniawati, Sigit Dwi Sucipto
