Abstract
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengamati penguatan keterampilan mengajar guru, memberi penguatan meliputi upaya meningkatkan ketrampilan mengajar guru, di SMA Swasta PGRI Kupang. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Subjek yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah guru sosiologi kelas XII IPS. Informan dalam penelitian ini adalah guru sosiologi dan perwakilan siswa kelas XII IPS. Objek penelitian ini berupa keterampilan memberi penguatan. Setting penelitian mengambil tempat di kelas XII IPS Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, wawancara, dan studi dokumentasi. Data dianalisis melalui reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Teknik pemeriksaan keabsahan data menggunakan member check dan triangulasi teknik. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa usaha guru sosiologi dalam upaya meningkatkan ketrampilan mengajar di kelas. Keterampilan memberi penguatan dalam pembelajaran yang mencangkup penguatan verbal dan penguatan non-verbal. Penguatan verbal diterapkan dengan memberikan pujian dengan kata-kata dan kalimat. Penerapan penguatan non-verbal dilakukan gerakan mimik dan gerakan badan.
