Abstract

The thematic learning process at the elementary school level has not yet achieved maximum results and still experiences various problems in its implementation. Thematic learning at the Lima Puluh Kota State Elementary School in the lower grades used the singing method, but the results did not show the maximum category. This paper describes the management of thematic learning based on the singing method at the Lima Puluh Kota State Elementary School, West Sumatra. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type. Primary data sources are in the form of lower-grade teachers, and secondary data sources are in the form of books, scientific magazines, archives, personal documents and related official documents. Data collection through direct observation of the learning process, interviews with related parties, and the results of documents from teachers and the school. Data analysis uses data reduction techniques, data presentation, and conclusions. The results of this study describe that there are three variables in the management of thematic learning based on the singing method. First; planning variables that include preparation, planning, organizing, implementing, supervising, evaluating, and following up contained in the learning implementation plan by considering the syllabus, materials, student conditions, and learning methods. Second; implementation variables include the interaction process between teachers and students in the thematic learning process. Third; outcome variables that produce enjoyable, enthusiastic, happy and active learning, as well as materials that are easy to remember and memorize by students so that student achievement increases above the minimum completion criteria.
